World Youth Day (WYD) is a Catholic event held every three years that sees millions of youth from around the world gathering together in one location.
The event is much looked forward to by Catholic youth as it is a way to meet youth from other countries, celebrate mass with Pope Francis and of course, a way to grow closer to Christ.
The event was held in Panama this year from January 22 to 27, 2019.
During the season of Lent this year, the Vicariate hosted a Mini World Youth Day to offer up a mini pilgrimage experience for both those who wanted to relive their WYD experience, as well as for those who haven’t been able to attend a WYD this year, or in the past.
Participants were treated to an afternoon of praise and worship, group activities, cultural dances, testimonials from former WYD participants, a teaching by Father Arul Edward, prayer, and an unforgettable journey in the form of the Way of the Cross.
The event was met with positive feedback from all those who attended leaving previous WYD attendees reminiscing of their WYD journey while giving those who haven’t attended the event before a small glimpse as to what WYD entails.
